I am pleased to confirm that the Sauvignon Blanc in particular has made massive strides, recently confirmed by the awarding of 96 points by Decanter magazine.
The 2016 vintage is winemaker, Alistair Maling's (Ex-Chief Winemaker at Villa Maria for 12 years) second in charge at Grove Mill and this is now truly an estate to keep a close eye on.
The 2016 vintage was reviewed by Melanie Brown(MB), Bob Campbell MW (BC) and Cameron Douglas MS (CD) for Decanter Magazine and received the following praise (all wines were tasted blind)
MB - This has an intriguing character, full of weight and texture, thanks in part to its oak ageing and wonderful alignment of savoury and enticing characters. Pulled together effortlessly creating a wonderful wine.
BC - This is an intense, pure and appealing Sauvignon with lime, citrus, gooseberry and a subtle, nutty lees character supported by lovely acidity. Reminiscent of a very good Sancerre in style and elegance.
CD - This wine has everything; wild ferment characters, lees, mineral, some sulphides, and lovely pristine fruit flavours. It's layered and wild, lengthy and lively.
